Hi! My name is Emily and I am the author of Fiber Furnishing.
I am a 25 year old living in Southern MA with my partner of 2.5 years, and our 2 cats, Seamus and Fergus. I started crocheting when I was 7, I was dragged along to my mom’s hair appointment and one of the ladies in the waiting room was crocheting and I was mesmerized. She was willing to teach me, as crocheting is a rather forgiving craft and I was hooked (Pun probably intended). My mom took me to get a crochet hook and yarn a few days later, just before a 14 hour car ride to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. My dad tells the story like this – “we started the ride and Emily had 3 balls of yarn. We looked back at the end of the ride and Emily had a blanket”.
Crocheting opened the doorway to many other crafts for me – Knitting, my cricut, paint by number, painting my house, but I always found my way back to crochet, even after long periods away. Sometimes I’d crochet every day for months, sometimes I wouldn’t touch a crochet hook for half a year. But Crafting, specifically crocheting has always been a constant in my life and why I started this blog – to share my love with you and to document my love for myself. Its an opportunity to challenge my love of crochet and bring it to another level, to find a niche that fits me, to find a way to photograph my creations that shows them off best, and to get some of the patterns that have been floating around inside my head out.
